    • Obituary published in Davis Reflex Journal, Davis County, Utah, January 9, 1985:

      Elmer C. Nielson, 82, or 340 S. 750 E., Clearfield, died Friday, Dec. 18, l984 at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden.

      He was born May 1, 1902 in Morgan County, a son of Niels and Jamima Gibby Nielson.

      He married Gladys Francom on Aug. 9, 1924, in Ogden. The marriage was later soleminzed in the Logan LDS temple.

      He was reared and educated in Round Valley and Roy.

      He farmed in Elwood and Tremonton, Utah. He later worked for Hunstaker Gravel Trucking Co. in Ogden and at Hill Air Force Base as a welder, retiring after 23 years of service.

      He was active in scouting.

      He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the Heritage Senior Citizerns.

      He was president of the Clearfield Senior Citizens Club for two years.

      Surviving are his widow of Clearfield; three daughters and three sons: Mrs. Everett Gene) Wells, Plymouth,; Reed E. Nielson, Syracuse, Lyle F. Nielson, Clinton; Mrs. Jayk (Peggy) Barker, South Ogden; Karl J. Nielson and Mrs. Charley A. (Jolene) Jones, both of Roy; 28 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

      Also surviving is a sister, Leone N. Jensen.

      He was preceded in death by one daughter.

      Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 2 at the Lindquist's Clearfield Mortuary with Bishop Tom Wagoner officiating.

      Family prayer was by Kurt Nielson; prelude and postlude music, Jean Seamons; "How Great Thou Art" by Janet Osler accompanied by Nancy Lundquist; invoation, Wayne Francom; remarks, Bishop Tom Waggoner; eulogy, Jay Barker; speakers, Virgil Francom and Jay Barker; "O My Father" by Janet Ostler and Nancy Lundquist; benedicition, Kirt Nielson.

      Dedication of the grave was by Bishop Tom Waggoner with interment in the Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch.

      Pallbearers were Bruce Wells, Craig Burr, Steve Nielson, Jeff Barker, Scott Roundy and Brad Nielson. Honorary pallbearers were Gar, Brian and Brent Burr.

      Flowers were cared for by the Clearfield 9th Ward Relilef Society.
