    Notes
    • Mary Anderson Sanderson was the second child born to Carolina Jonsson and Archibald Adamson Anderson on February 1, 1868. She married Owen M. Sanderson, son of Henry Weeks Sanderson and Sarah Jane Cole in the Logan Temple October 2, 1886. For several years they made their home in Fairview or in that vicinity. They loved their kinfolks who at that time lived in Fairview, Sanpete County. Owen and Mary followed merchandising with Mary operating a Millinery shop in a part of the store. She was successful in this business. She was humble, kind, sympathetic and a great admirer of pretty clothes. Owen like the out-of-doors, the mountain streams, all nature. Mary and Owen were a couple who understood the joys of an eternal marriage and the comforts and happiness to be had through a life of service, faith, integrity, principles of truth and righteousness. Mary passed away January 12, 1948, in Salt Lake City.

Owen attended Brigham Young University. He taught school in Mona and Alpine, Utah. He also worked on the railroad, helping to bring the rails from Thistle to Fairview. At the same time Mary cooked for the workmen. Owen taught school at the Brigham Young Academy. The years 1894, 1895, and 1896, Owen spent in the mission field in Tennessee. He was City Marshall in Fairview, also.

They had no children of their own. They were very fond of children and for a time they had little Carylyle, one of her sister Janet's little boys in their home. Later a little girl of six or eight years of age came to live with them; her name was Pauline Dreyer. Pauline's mother was very sick; later the mother passed away and Pauline made her home with the Sanderson's until her marriage to Heber C. Olson. About 1909 Owen and Mary moved to Tacoma, Washington, and for a short time Owen took a job as Government Meat Inspector. From Tacoma they came to Ogden, Utah, and Owen followed this same work (Inspector at the Ogden Packing Plant). In 1912 Owen began working for the Utah Power and Light Company in Ogden, Utah. About 1916, Owen was elected Weber County Assessor, which position he held for four years.

Soon after Mary and Owen moved to Ogden, Owen was made Superintendent of the Fourth Ward Sunday School. Later he became a High Counselor of the Ogden Stake, followed by his call as Bishop of the Sixth Ward, which position he held until he and Mary moved to Salt Lake City to make their home in 1921.

In coming to Salt Lake City, Owen found employment as collector for Z.C.M.I. They moved to various locations in the Salt Lake area; their last residence was at Ninth East and about Fourteenth South, just one half block from Liberty Park.

Owen continued being active in the Salt Lake Stakes of the L.D.S. church. He died with a heart attack December 11, 1929, while on the street doing his work. Interment was in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
