    1. [S229] Obituary, Standard-Examiner (Ogden, UT), 17 Mar 2007.
Helen Edith Brown Larsen of Willard, Utah, passed away quietly in her sleep at her home on Wednesday, March 14, 2007. She would have been 89 in May. She survived three previous bouts of cancer and now has gone to a much better place. She was greatly loved by her large posterity, as well as by her many friends in Willard and in many others places.

Helen was born May 15, 1918 in Cardston, Alberta, Canada to Scott B. and Edith Hill Brown. She grew up in Weiser, Idaho, attended Brigham Young University, and was married to Ronald Franklin Larsen on January 16, 1942, in the Salt Lake Temple just prior to his leaving for active duty in the US Army in World War II. After the war they lived in Madison, Wisconsin, where two children were born. Then they settled in Boise, Idaho, where three more children were born. They moved to Willard, Utah, in 1959, spent five years in North Ogden, and then returned to Willard where they spent their remaining years.

Helen finished her teaching degree after all five of her children were born. She taught elementary school for over 20 years, mostly at Pleasant View Elementary School. She played the piano well and taught many Sunday School lessons, as well as serving in other callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was released from her calling as a Visiting Teaching Supervisor the last Sunday before her death.

Helen had a great love for learning and was well known for her large iris garden. She enjoyed growing every conceivable kind of flower and especially loved making and sharing beautiful floral arrangements. She loved all things of beauty and found beauty everywhere. She and Ronald served two six-month missions for the LDS Church, one in Nevada, the other in Indiana, as well as spending several summers as missionaries at Jackson, Wyoming.

She is survived by one sister, Lois Galloway, and one brother, Ellsworth (Dayle) Brown; five children; Edith (Mrs. Dan C.) Baker of Bountiful, UT; Arlene (Mrs. Lynn) Miller of Logan, UT; Eldon (Susan) Larsen of Charleston, WV; Linda (Mrs. Kenneth) Rose of Goffstown, NH; Keith (Ann) Larsen of Willard, UT. She is also survived by 33 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, four brothers, and one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 19, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Willard 4th Ward Chapel, 80 N. 100 W., Willard, UT.

Friends may call on Sunday, March 18, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, and on Monday from 10 to 10:40 a.m. at the church.

Interment will be in the Willard Cemetery.
